Tree Preservation Orders & Conservation Areas
A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is an order made by a local planning authority in England to protect specific trees, areas of trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity. The order prohibits certain work to a tree without the written consent of the local planning authority (LPA) this includes; cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage, wilful destruction, including to tree roots. There are similar constraints for works to trees within conservation areas.
We can support submitting a tree works application for trees covered by a TPO and those within a conservation area by acting as an agent for the application. Helping you to achieve consent will usually involve a site visit, council planning searches, submission of a tree works application, and council liaison. In some cases a tree condition report may be required.
